The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has initiated a significant widening project on the SR 14 Spur, locally referred to as S. Davis Road. This improvement effort extends from south of the Lafayette Parkway (SR 109) intersection to Hogansville Road, encompassing the bridge over the CSX Railroad. The design features a substantial upgrade to the roadway, with the addition of two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, a 24-foot median, and 10-foot outside shoulders to enhance safety and traffic flow. Furthermore, the project includes crucial enhancements to the existing infrastructure, such as upgrading current traffic signals and adding dedicated left-turn lanes to the southbound and eastbound approaches at the Lafayette Parkway intersection to mitigate congestion and improve overall efficiency.
Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.
