The SCDOT's intersection improvement project (SPATS Project ID P037116) along SC 9 in Spartanburg County aims to increase operational efficiency and traffic capacity by addressing two key intersections. At SC 9 and Parris Bridge Road, the plan includes implementing access management, adding medians, and installing dual left-turn lanes and dedicated right-turn lanes. Concurrently, the project involves a significant change at Sloane Garden Road, which will be realigned and extended approximately 600 feet south to create a new signalized intersection with SC 9, which will tie into a new residential development. This extension will establish an alternate route for connectivity in the area, allowing the existing Sloane Garden Road connection to be converted into a cul-de-sac.
Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.
