The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is proposing to replace the current structurally deficient SC 9 BUS (Cheraw Street) bridge over Crooked Creek in Marlboro County. The project's scope involves replacing the existing bridge structure and upgrading the immediate roadway approaches to meet modern design standards. The replacement bridge and approaches will feature four 12-foot travel lanes, with curb and gutter installed on the approaches, and a five-foot sidewalk on both sides of the road to enhance pedestrian safety and mobility.
Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.
