Construction is currently underway to enhance safety and traffic flow along a 6.3-mile stretch of Raeford Road (U.S. 401) in Fayetteville, running from Old Raeford Road to Robeson Street.
The core of the project involves replacing the existing open center turn lane with a dedicated median. This design change is expected to significantly reduce collisions and improve the overall flow of traffic. The road's reconstruction will also include upgrades to improve pedestrian access.
Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.
