State: TN Counties: Cocke
Entity: Tennessee Department of Transportation
The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) project concerning SR-32 (US-321) from SR-73 at Cosby to north of Wilton Springs Road in Cocke County involves the realignment and reconstruction of a approximately 7.4-mile segment of the highway to improve regional access, operational efficiency, and safety. This effort, officially titled the Cocke County SR-32 (US-321) project (PIN: 101422.00), is designed to bring the roadway up to current standards, address high-tourism traffic, and meets the goals of the state's IMPROVE Act. Federal approvals, including the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI), were issued in 2023, granting the necessary licenses and permits for the selected alternative (Build Alternative A) which will largely follow a new location west of the existing SR-32 alignment for a significant portion of the corridor, including realigning the entrance to the Foothills Parkway.
Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.
