New Roadway from NC 53 (Western Boulevard) to McDaniel Drive in Jacksonville

Project ID: U5787
Construction Year: 2026
State: NC Counties: Onslow

Entity: North Carolina Department of Transportation

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is planning to extend Jacksonville Parkway (SR 2714), a key infrastructure project aimed at improving traffic flow in the area. This project, officially designated as STIP Project No. U-5791, will extend the parkway from Western Boulevard (NC 53) to U.S. 17 (New Bern Highway). The first section of Jacksonville Parkway opened in 2013, and this new extension will complete a northern loop, creating a continuous roadway from the U.S. 17 Bypass to U.S. 17.

The overall project spans approximately four miles and is divided into two segments. Segment U-5791A involves constructing a new, four-lane roadway with partial access control, running from NC 53 (Western Boulevard) to Ramsey Road. For Segment U-5791B, the existing two-lane Ramsey Road will be widened to four lanes, connecting the new roadway to U.S. 17 (New Bern Highway). These improvements are designed to help reduce congestion and make travel more efficient for everyone in the region.

Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.

Should you be impacted by this project, we can help. If you are a landowner in the footprint of this project and would like assistance with this process or would like more information regarding your rights relative to eminent domain, condemnation, or easements, please contact us today.
