Murchison Road/N.C. 210 Improvements between I-295 and the U.S. 401 Bypass
Project ID: U4900
Construction Year: 2026
State: NC Counties: Cumberland
Entity: North Carolina Department of Transportation
As a vital historical and cultural link between downtown Fayetteville and Fort Bragg, Murchison Road (N.C. 210) is a key corridor for military personnel, residents, and visitors. With the opening of the I-295 outer loop, Murchison Road has become an even more critical gateway to downtown Fayetteville. Today, approximately 25,000 vehicles travel this two-mile section between I-295 and the U.S. 401 Bypass, and the corridor is also heavily used by pedestrians and public transit users.
To enhance traffic operations and mobility, the N.C. Department of Transportation is proposing a series of improvements for Murchison Road. The project will focus on the two-mile stretch between I-295 and just south of the U.S. 401 Bypass, aiming to ensure efficient and safe travel for all users. These upgrades are designed to accommodate the high volume of traffic and make the corridor safer for everyone, whether they are driving, walking, or using public transportation.
Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.
