A new bridge is set to replace the existing one on SR 4 over the Savannah River, connecting Augusta, Georgia, and North Augusta, South Carolina. The project will use staged construction to keep two lanes of traffic open at all times. The new bridge will feature four travel lanes with a central median, a sidewalk on the east side, and a 10-foot shared-use path on the west side, which will be separated from traffic by a barrier.
Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.
