The City of Saraland proposes to widen Celeste Road (CR-41) in Mobile County, Alabama, from Forest Avenue to just west of I-65. The existing two-lane facility will be expanded to a five-lane roadway, featuring two through lanes in each direction and a dedicated center turn lane.
The primary goal of this project is to relieve traffic congestion along Celeste Road. Current congestion—marked by frustrating stop-and-go traffic and significantly slower speeds—is mainly driven by vehicles accessing the I-65 interchange and the increased commercial and residential development in the area.
Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.
