The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) announced plans to upgrade a highly trafficked intersection on McFarland Boulevard in Northport. According to spokesperson John McWilliams, ALDOT has approved a contract to install new traffic signal equipment and concrete islands at both the northbound and southbound junctions of US Highway 82 and State Route 69/Lurleen Wallace Boulevard.
Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.
