The N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is working on a project, officially designated as TIP No. U-6082, to improve the intersection of Bell Fork Road and Country Club Road/Hargett Street in Jacksonville. The main goal is to improve traffic flow and operations at this heavily used intersection. The proposed upgrades will include adding curb and gutter, widening the travel lanes to 12 feet, and installing sidewalks. Additionally, the project will introduce new turn lanes and additional storage, along with a raised median at the intersection of Country Club Road and Hargett Street, to help manage traffic more efficiently.
Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.
