NCDOT is planning to build a new road, known as South Chatham Park Way (STIP Project No. R-5963), to create an eastern loop around downtown Pittsboro.
This project will construct a new 3.3-mile road that starts south of Pittsboro at US 15-501 and ends at US 64 Business. It will also widen the existing 1.1-mile section of road from US 64 Business to US 64.
Together with the North Chatham Park Way project, this new road will complete a full loop, providing an alternate route for traffic and supporting the region's economic growth. It will also offer new mobility options for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.
Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.
