New Route from North 23rd Street to North 26th Street in Wilmington

Project ID: U5926
Construction Year: 2028
State: NC Counties: New Hanover

Entity: North Carolina Department of Transportation

The N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and the City of Wilmington are collaborating on a project to enhance safety and access near Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway. The plan involves constructing a new two-lane road to connect North 23rd Street to North 26th Street. This will allow the closure of the existing access point from Kornegay Avenue to the Parkway. The primary goal is to provide safer and improved access for residents and businesses while moving the Parkway toward fully controlled access, meaning all entry and exit will be restricted to interchange ramps.

Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.

Should you be impacted by this project, we can help. If you are a landowner in the footprint of this project and would like assistance with this process or would like more information regarding your rights relative to eminent domain, condemnation, or easements, please contact us today.
