N.C. 109 Improvements from Hearne Farm to Pee Dee Road

Project ID: R5826B
Construction Year: 2028
State: NC Counties: Montgomery

Entity: North Carolina Department of Transportation

The core goal of the project is to expand capacity on Benson Road by constructing one additional through lane in each direction. To support this widening, the plan includes installing curb and gutter on both sides of the roadway. Additionally, a new structure will be built: a new bridge over Swift Creek situated upstream of the existing bridge, specifically designed to carry southbound traffic.

The project also significantly improves accommodations for pedestrians and bicyclists, with a proposed shared-use path running along the road's west side and a sidewalk constructed along the east side. Finally, the scope of work includes specific traffic flow and safety improvements at the Benson Road and Rand Road intersection.

Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.

Should you be impacted by this project, we can help. If you are a landowner in the footprint of this project and would like assistance with this process or would like more information regarding your rights relative to eminent domain, condemnation, or easements, please contact us today.
