I-95 Interchange Reconstruction at US 701/NC 96

Project ID: I5974
Construction Year: 2026
State: NC Counties: Johnston

Entity: North Carolina Department of Transportation

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is undertaking a major initiative to upgrade interstate highways by widening them to six or eight lanes. This effort includes replacing bridges and interchanges to meet modern design standards and implementing improvements to better protect the highways from floodwaters. These strategic upgrades are intended to enhance safety, alleviate traffic congestion, and ensure the highway system can accommodate future traffic growth. NCDOT has already funded five such projects in its current State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP), which are spread across Robeson, Cumberland, Harnett, and Johnston counties.

Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.

Should you be impacted by this project, we can help. If you are a landowner in the footprint of this project and would like assistance with this process or would like more information regarding your rights relative to eminent domain, condemnation, or easements, please contact us today.
