U.S. 1/U.S. 15/U.S. 501 Improvements from South of SR 1198 (Bryan Drive) to North of SR 1237 (Carthage Street)

Project ID: U5727
Construction Year: 2026
State: NC Counties: Lee

Entity: North Carolina Department of Transportation

The N.C. Department of Transportation is proposing a significant upgrade to the intersection of U.S. 1 / U.S. 15 / U.S. 501 and N.C. 78 (Tramway Road) to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion. The project will transform this section of highway into a "Synchronized Street," a design that uses coordinated signals to keep traffic moving smoothly. This upgrade, which will span from just south of Bryan Drive to north of Carthage Street, is specifically aimed at easing congestion at the busy intersections of N.C. 78 (Tramway Road), Center Church Road, and Pendergrass Road. These improvements will create a more efficient and reliable travel experience for drivers.

Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.

Should you be impacted by this project, we can help. If you are a landowner in the footprint of this project and would like assistance with this process or would like more information regarding your rights relative to eminent domain, condemnation, or easements, please contact us today.
