Archdale Road Widening from Robbins Country Road to North Main Street
Project ID: U3400
Construction Year: 2026
State: NC Counties: Randolph, Guilford
Entity: North Carolina Department of Transportation
An upcoming road improvement project is set to enhance safety and accessibility for a 3.3-mile stretch of Archdale Road, spanning from High Point to Archdale. This project aims to transform the roadway to better serve a growing mix of residential and business traffic.
The proposed upgrades include widening the current three-lane and two-lane sections into a consistent three-lane road with a continuous center turn lane, which will help reduce congestion and the risk of collisions. The improvements will also make the road more accommodating for cyclists and pedestrians, with wider travel lanes for bikes and new crosswalks and signage at key intersections.
Additional changes include the realignment of Trinity Road to create a safer 90-degree intersection and an increase in the right-of-way to 70 feet. The speed limit will remain at 45 mph. These improvements are designed to prepare Archdale Road for the future, making it a safer and more efficient route for everyone.
Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.
