Birmingham Northern Beltline from West of US-31 to Glenwood Road

Project ID: APDF1602(558)
Construction Year: 2026
State: AL Counties: Jefferson

Entity: Georgia Department of Transportation

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is currently working on the Birmingham Northern Beltline, a large-scale project designed to create a 52-mile, six-lane corridor. This beltline will eventually form a bypass loop around Birmingham, connecting I-59 in the northeast to the I-459 interchange near Bessemer, and touching every major interstate in Jefferson County.

The overall goal of the Northern Beltline is to improve regional accessibility, alleviate traffic, and stimulate economic growth by creating new opportunities for development and enhancing connectivity throughout the greater Birmingham area and the wider Southeast.

Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.

Should you be impacted by this project, we can help. If you are a landowner in the footprint of this project and would like assistance with this process or would like more information regarding your rights relative to eminent domain, condemnation, or easements, please contact us today.
