SR 1522 (Deerfield Road) Improvements From State Farm Road to SR 1523 (Wilson Ridge Road)

Project ID: R5830
Construction Year: 2026
State: NC Counties: WATAUGA

Entity: North Carolina Department of Transportation

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is proposing a series of improvements to Deerfield Road through STIP Project No. R-5830. This project will enhance a 0.85-mile stretch of the road, running from State Farm Road to just west of Wilson Ridge Road. The planned upgrades include widening the travel lanes from 10 feet to 12 feet and adding 5-foot-wide paved shoulders. The project also involves building a new multi-use path and making key improvements to the intersection of Deerfield Road and State Farm Road.

This effort will seamlessly connect with an adjacent project, STIP Project No. U-5810, which focuses on improving Wilson Ridge Road and Bamboo Road. Project U-5810 will also construct a roundabout at the intersection of Deerfield Road and Wilson Ridge Road, located just east of the R-5830 project limits. Together, these two projects aim to improve traffic flow and safety for both drivers and non-motorists in the area.

Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.

Should you be impacted by this project, we can help. If you are a landowner in the footprint of this project and would like assistance with this process or would like more information regarding your rights relative to eminent domain, condemnation, or easements, please contact us today.
