Widening of SR 40 from SR 40 Connector to east of CR 82/May Bluff Road

Project ID: 0000821
Construction Year: 2029
State: GA Counties: Charlton

Entity: Georgia Department of Transportation

Georgia's State Route (SR) 40 is a key east-west road in the southeast part of the state, linking the towns of Folkston and St. Marys, as well as Interstate 95 in between.

The project will widen a 1.91-mile stretch of SR 40 in Charlton County. Beginning near the SR 40 Connector intersection, the road will be expanded from two lanes to five lanes. This five-lane section will then transition to a four-lane divided highway with a 24-foot raised median, extending to just northeast of County Road (CR) 82. As part of this work, the box culvert bridge at milepost 0.63 will be extended.

Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.

Should you be impacted by this project, we can help. If you are a landowner in the footprint of this project and would like assistance with this process or would like more information regarding your rights relative to eminent domain, condemnation, or easements, please contact us today.
