A new bridge is planned for SR 81 over the Broad River, replacing the current 734-foot structure built in 1954. The new bridge will be built on an offset alignment to the east, allowing the existing bridge to remain open and minimize traffic disruptions during construction. Once complete, the new bridge will improve safety and flow with two 12-foot lanes and 8-foot shoulders.
Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.
