SR 136 Bridge Replacement over Lookout Creek

Project ID: 0015542

Construction Year: 2027
State: GA Counties: Dade

Entity: Georgia Department of Transportation

The State Route 136 bridge over Lookout Creek (Structure ID 083-0014-0) is recommended for replacement. Built in 1940 and widened in 1988, the bridge's original H-15 truck design load is below current standards.

While the bridge is rated as being in satisfactory condition overall, it is classified as scour critical because the foundation elevations are unknown. The deck is in fair condition with moderate surface abrasion and cracking. The superstructure and substructure are in good and satisfactory condition, respectively, though both show signs of minor deterioration like spalling and cracking.

Given the age of the bridge, its non-compliance with modern design standards, and its scour critical classification, a full replacement is the recommended course of action.

Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.
