To create economic opportunities, improve safety, and promote sustainability, the City of Gulf Shores has secured a 2019 U.S. Department of Transportation BUILD Grant. This innovative, multifaceted funding will enhance quality of life for residents and visitors by addressing key improvements, including the widening of Highway 59 and various other upgrades along the corridor.
Work for this project will include the acquisition of new right of way and a variety of easements imposed on adjacent landowners through the eminent domain process.
